Coaching & Clubs:
Zone3 Sports - Rick Hellard is Ottawa's top-tier triathlete coach, and offers personal training as well as excellent group multisport programs.
The Ottawa Lions run excellent track & endurance training programs throughout the year. Having regular access to a full size indoor 400m track in the dead of winter is a real luxury.
One of the best-equipped fitness clubs in the Ottawa area, with an excellent spin program in mornings.
OBC offers it's members the opportunity to time-trial during weekday nights during the summer season.
Running Room clinics are an excellent way to get into marathons. Bank Street location has best selection, Slater Street location has excellent Ironman-training clinic.
Carleton Masters Swimming, coached by distance swimming record-setter Lynn Marshall.
My Choices - Wheels & Stuff:
Cervelo is a Canadian company dedicated to purpose-built triathlon bikes. I bought my first Cervelo Dual for races & TT's.
Specialized makes excellent multisport and road bikes.
Computrainer is the de facto standard of computerized indoor bike trainers.
Suunto Heart rate monitors with add-on modules for running & cycling. The T3 I use also measures "Training Effect".
The Garmin Forerunner series is an excellent tool for runners to measure distance and speed outdoors. Every year a new model comes out with even more bells & whistles.
